In 2009 there was a whole television show on MTV dedicated to women who had had their child to young. Teen moms were looked down upon by many. The world went into crisis mode and started educating women and men as early as middle school about safe sex and in high school started passing out free condoms. Sex was no longer a taboo subject to talk about as long as you weren’t pregnant to young.
It’s 2018 now and recently the media has had a frenzy over the surprising announcement of Kylie Jenner, youngest sister to Kim Kardashian, having given birth to her first child named Stormi at the age of 20 on February 1st, 2018. This follows in the Kardashian theme perfectly for creating a full-on weather report with their children’s name ranging from Reign, North, to now Stormi. Jenner seemed to keep this all a secret for the past 10 months with only little speculation of her being pregnant and zero photographs of her. Along with her announcement she released a video that she had filmed all on an old fashion video recorder about what she went through and clips showing off her bump. This very detailed video held more than 46 million people’s attention the entire time. This is almost half of the 100 million people that watched the super bowl making Jenner’s birth the “new” super bowl. All of this allowed her fans to get a taste of what her pregnancy was actually like but are they okay with only a taste?
Over the past few months fans including me have been pissed off with the fact that Kylie dropped off the face of the earth without even answering the rumors of her pregnancy. Personally, I was one of the many to unfollow her on Instagram out of rage only to refollow her after the announced birth of her daughter. Not only is Jenner involved in the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians she also has her own show called Life of Kylie and lives the majority of her life on social media. We’re all just left to wonder if her pregnancy was an accident and she had to take 10 months off from the world to figure her life out. The Instagram queen bee went without a single post to any of her social medias since December of last year, not even advertising her lip kit launch’s that she seemed to work so hard on.
After just finishing her relationship with Tyga around April 3rd, 2017 she sparked new rumors with her now boyfriend/baby daddy Travis Scott on April 16, 2017 at a Coachella after-party. This sounds like the movie Friends with Benefits where they just have sex but end up falling in love except they end up having a baby.
I do wonder how long this will last or if Travis Scott will turn into the next Scott Disick. I am at least trying to be on board with her birth at 20 because Kylie has now changed the way people see younger pregnancies and like the rest of her family she has chosen a controversial topic and made it a platform for her audience to speak on. I am proud of Kylie choosing not to use the spot light for money like her sister Kim does all too often and hopefully next times she doesn’t keep all these juicy secrets from her fans.
